New volunteer work party at Fifth Street Row on Saturday, September 9, 2023!
“We will be planting sedges and rushes in the flat area (flood plain) at the lower side area of Fifth Street Row on Sept 9. We will also remove blackberry, and maybe ivy, if time and group-size permits. We look forward to holding an event during reasonably nice weather! Scappoose Bay Watershed Council has agreed to provide us with sedges and rushes. They are low-growing, grass-like native plants that are excellent for holding soil in areas where water passes through, and they like to grow in moist areas. I think they will bring a degree of stabilization to that location.”
